In 204/2025, we gave scholarships to 12 women to do a Udacity Nanodegree. Within the allotted time, 11 women were able to complete their Nanodegrees.

Osamudiame Igbinoba

React Nanodegree

ā€œReceiving the scholarship was important to my growth as a front-end developer. It came at a time when I considered the next steps to advance my expertise. It was a fun and truly educationalĀ experience. I learned a lot about Redux and how to use it as a state management tool within the React ecosystem. On further research, I also encountered more modern and developer-friendly state management tools like Tanstack Query. This course opened my eyes to new things and made me more confident in my skills. Overall, I think it made me a more well-rounded front-end developer, and coincidentally, I was taking part of the scholarship as I started a new job, so it has made me sharpen my skills and apply them to real-world solutions. I'm truly grateful to Ire and the team for their encouragement and support.ā€

Marketing Analytics Nanodegree

When I received the IA Scholarship, I was in the middle of a gap year away from work - one I had intentionally taken to focus on my final year of university.

But I didn’t just want to focus on uni; I wanted to use that time to hone my skills and position myself for the kind of marketing career I envisioned.

Luckily, I had realized from experience that marketing without data is incomplete, so marketing analytics felt like the missing piece. And applying for the scholarship was a no-brainer.

To be very honest, balancing the nanodegree with my final year was anything but easy. There were days when it felt like too much, but seeing other scholarship recipients share their progress kept me going. It quickly became about learning how to show up, staying committed, and seeing something through, no matter how tough it got.

By the time I completed the course, I was also wrapping up my degree. And that meant stepping into the highly saturated market equipped with something extra. And that preparation paid off cause I landed a marketing associate role at a leading energy fintech company in Nigeria and it didn’t take long.

I dare say that my nanodegree was more than just a certificate, it was a competitive edge. It was the thing I proudly added to my resume, my portfolio and talked about to everyone that cared to listen.

In general, this scholarship wasn’t just about adding another certificate to the stash of certificates I had, it was about growth, resilience, and stepping into opportunities ready.

I’m incredibly grateful for the support that made this possible, and for the donors who continue to invest in women like me. Thank you ā˜ŗļøā€

Intro to Programming Nanodegree

"Being a recipient of the IA scholarship meant I got the opportunity to learn programming in a structured environment, which is something I have always wanted but could not quite afford.

"FANTASTIC", that's the word I'd use to describe the experience. It was a very immersive experience and for someone with limited exposure to programming, I could still follow along. I loved learning with Udacity and because I enjoyed their teaching methods so much, I have plans to take more Udacity courses in the near future.

Taking the Python module introduced me to a new world of automations. After the course ended, I fell into a rabbit hole of scripting and low code automations and I loved it (bringing calm to chaos through workflow & process automations make me happy- I think I have found my niche in tech, at least for now).

So yes, that's what the IA scholarship did for me-help me discover my love for low-code/ no-code automations and actually build a career around it.ā€

Oreoluwa Okunnu

UX Designer Nanodegree

ā€œI received the Udacity scholarship in User Experience and it was such a huge turning point for me. I remember getting a mail from my interviewer at the time and how nervous I was. I was very happy to have been selected because the scholarship came at a time when I was eager to hone my skills and I was really taught and now equipped with solid, relevant skills in my field.

This scholarship didn’t just give me access to top-notch learning—it gave me a sense of validation, a reminder that I was capable and deserving of a seat at the table. I was very happy and proud really.

Throughout the program, asides the skills, there was a sisterhood with other recipients and how we cheered one another and helped each other where necessary; I remember needing people to participate in one of my surveys and they were very willing to help. We also had weekly check-ins and thumbs up from Love and Ire herself and these were such boosters for me.

In the program, I learned how to approach design from a user-centered perspective, conduct usability tests, create wireframes, and iterate based on feedback. These weren’t just technical skills—they were confidence builders. For the first time, I could speak the language of UX, back my ideas with data, and contribute meaningfully to digital projects.

Since completing the program, I’ve been able to apply what I learned to both freelance projects and within my work. It sharpened my eye for design, improved how I think through user flows, and has opened doors I wouldn’t have dared knock on before. I have seen progress in that when before I never received call backs on job applications, now, I get to interview stages.

Although I haven’t gotten a job yet, I’m truly grateful for the support that made this possible, and I hope my journey encourages more women to step into tech and stay in it.ā€

Nafisa Adeleke

Digital Marketing Nanodegree

ā€œI’ve been in marketing for a while, but I always struggled with confidence because I didn’t have a a major certificate to back up my experience. Whenever I went for job interviews, I’d get asked, ā€œWhere’s your evidence in marketing?ā€ā€”even though I had screenshots and demos of my results and processes. It felt like no matter how much I did, I still needed something ā€œofficialā€ to prove my skills.

That’s when my friend Judith encouraged me to pursue a certification, but at the time, funding was tight, and it wasn’t a top priority, until I came across this opportunity again. Receiving this scholarship gave me the chance to finally take that step, and I’m so grateful I did.

Through the Udacity Digital Marketing Nanodegree, I deepened my understanding of Agile marketing, KPI setting based on company goals, and Google Analytics dashboards, things I’d interacted with before but now felt more confident using strategically. One of the most impactful parts of the program was the Brand Strategy and Empathy Map course. While I might not be a brand manager, I’m currently collaborating with a third party vendor on rebranding the four brands in the company I work with, and the insights from that course have been the chef’s kiss.

Another major shift was in SEO and search engine algorithms, I already understood SEO, but this program helped me break down how search engines actually work, making my strategies more effective.

This scholarship gave me validation, confidence, and a stronger foundation in the work I’ve already been doing. Thank you for making this possible!ā€

Mary Mbaoma

Site Reliability Engineer Nanodegree

ā€œReceiving the scholarship for the SRE nano degree program was a turning point in my career. It gave me the clarity and confidence I needed to tackle complex projects at work.

Through the program, I developed invaluable skills such as resilience and problem-solving. The knowledge I gained helped me stand out in job interviews and equipped me with a deeper understanding of monitoring systems and their impact on business.

I'm grateful for the opportunity and look forward to continuing to apply my skills to drive success.ā€
